Background: Through years of growth in the Elgin and nearby Fox Valley area, Sherman Hospital's facility on the east side of Elgin was quickly becoming overcrowded. When plans were made to build a new facility on Elgin's west side, the hospital knew that there would be concern about not only the new hospital, but the future of the old site.

Based on the proven success of the campaign created to promote Sherman's Heart Center, Demi & Cooper was the logical choice to handle the marketing and publicizing of both the new and old hospitals.

The result: A campaign was created to build local support for the building of the new hospital. At the same time, fears that the east side facility would be abandoned were put to rest through a cleverly crafted message that the east side hospital was not going to be closed, but instead, modernized and improved.

A variety of media were used to communicate with the community, including billboards, newspaper advertising, press kits at publicity events, an informative web site that collected supporting petitions and allowed supporters to order yard signs, wrist bracelets and e-mail state and local politicians. To a list of over 700 supporters an informative e-mail campaign was also devised. Response was overwhelming.
